Lawmaker and new technical panel member in public administration and agriculture Fidel Nograles expressed his concerns with the additional funds to be provided to the Department of Education (DepEd).
Amid the pandemic and as the country transitions to distance learning modalities, Nograles described the task as an “enormous challenge” as securing the additional budget in a shorter period of time would be even more difficult amid the recession. He also noted that other sectors would “jostle for scarce resources”.
Earlier in August, Nograles was appointed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a new technical panel member with the task of ensuring the academe, government, and industry in curriculum reform would be equally represented, as well as ensuring academic programs make available necessary local and international manpower requirements.
In a Facebook post, Nograles also shared his expectations for DepEd to utilize the postponement of the opening of classes to address its limitations and make the necessary preparations for learners and teachers.
